Technology Salon for Girls

Exposure to Science & Technology is key to broadening anyone’s horizon. Inspire-tech classes
are designed to address optimal learning in technology for girls. The mission of the Davis based
non-profit is to let girls know about different opportunities that they maybe interested in, expose
them to process and design thinking, problem solving, innovation, AND to empower them.
Girls’ voice and creative minds are important to the conversation about technology,
the ideas and the products that will shape our future.

Arduino for Beginners
Arduino is a great educational platform for hobbyist, artist, makers and technology enthusiasts.
Developed in Italy this easy tool teaches you about electronics, how to build computer hardware
and how to program.

Illuminate your Creation/Art meets Science (Two different classes)
Bring your creativity, learn about circuits and make a Paper Circuit, blend creativity and basic
electronics to create something that is immediately rewarding, it lights up!
Learn about circuits and build a Paper Lantern (for 13 -99 years old).

Discover the Universe of Robots
Thymio is a Robot that does not require assembly;
it comes with many sensors and its fun to play with. Use it in its pre-program mode or learn
to program it using either visual blocks or code to carry out numerous experiments.

Robots in Space
Build a LEGO Mindstorms Robot and learn to program it. Race your Robot, visit the moon,
go througha maze and encounter an Alien.

Electricity and Circuits with LittleBits
Circuits are the building blocks of all technology, from cell phones to the space shuttle and everything
in between. Use these super friendly electronics bits to make various gadgets using many sensors and motors. Explore, experiment and create smart gadgets.

Look inside PCs, Laptops, Cell phone and other Electronic Inventions
Learn about semiconductors, binary number, the history of computers, women in technology,
future of technology and Internet safety.

All Classes are for 5th-9th graders, except for Paper Lantern
